Court upholds agency’s use of eminent domain to assist redevelopment of ShoppingTown Mall

Syracuse, N.Y. — An appeals court on Friday gave a green light to the Onondaga County Industrial Development Agency’s use of its eminent domain power to assist the redevelopment of the closed ShoppingTown Mall in DeWitt.
The Appellate Division of state Supreme Court unanimously rejected a request from the owners of the former Sears and Macy’s store at the mall to overturn the agency’s decision authorizing the taking of the stores by eminent domain.
